It is said that Homosexuality exists in 450 species and Homophobia in only one.
No. Homosexuality exists only in Humans. As does Heterosexuality and Asexuality and Pansexuality and any other sexuality you care to name.
Why? Because sexuality is a fickle, material concept invented by the human race as a mode of discrimination. Those other 449 animal species don’t/can’t concern themselves with such trivialities as labels for a creature’s preference in partner. Plus, if same-sex intercourse exists in other species, it will only be found in those small, anomalous groups that have the luxury of not having to screw to survive. If they’re under constant threat of extinction or just of being hunted by a dominant predator, you will not find same-sex intercourse, because it defies the natural survival instinct.
The Human concept of sexuality is itself derived from this animal nature. We as a species see the necessity of reproduction for survival, but in the safer parts of the world, this necessity has dulled over time. You only need observe how the average size of Western families has shrunk over the last 100 years and how this correlates with advances in human rights, medical care etc. This has provided us with the luxury of choice in our partners, so a range of sexualities (and labels to define them) has arisen as a result.
Taken in to context, these facts explain the millennia of persecution against same-sex intercourse, because to put it simply; it was seen to defy the natural drive for survival and maintenance of the species.
Take in to consideration the Ancient Greeks: Despite the warlike nature of the Greek states, Athens and similarly well-established city-states permitted same-sex intercourse because they saw themselves as the peak of civilization, untouchable, top of the foodchain, with no need for the survival instinct. This is reflected in the modern-day western world, with our peaceful living and easy-access food and medicine and housing etc. so same-sex relationships have become the norm, because we are unthreatened. Labels have sprung up with the need to define this as something other than nature however, propagated by the religious who are bound to the rules of nature under the guise of the rule of Church/God.
So you see, sexuality is unnatural. SEX is natural, no-matter who it’s with. You really want to fight back against oppression and discrimination? Boycott labels, educate people in free will and just BE.It’s not complicated.
I’d hardly call this controversial! A very well-reasoned point, I think.
As Merlin said, very well reasoned and came to a conclusion I can absolutely agree with.
